Top 3 Pumpkin Patches in Chicago Suburb

Fall is my favorite season. I get excited about the food (pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, apple cider donuts, pumpkin pie shakes) and everything fall but especially the pumpkin patches.

Some may complain that the Midwest is flat and there isn’t much to do. Well, if you like the fall, you may change your mind. I recently learned that Illinois has the most pumpkin patches in the country.

With that said, I want to share the three best pumpkin patches in the Chicago suburbs. I say the best because I’ve been to all of them, and I’ve tried all of their apple cider donuts! (I’ve never heard of these donuts until I moved to the Midwest. SO GOOD!)

Bengtson’s Pumpkin Fest (13341 W. 151st Street Homer Glen, IL 60491; 708-301-3276)

I absolutely love this place! The first year we went, it was so crowded, we decided to turn around and go back home. It was so disappointing, but it also showed how popular this place can be. The normal pumpkin patch has a petting zoo, hayrides, and a haunted barn. But that’s not all. This place is like no other pumpkin patch; it has a LOT of fun rides, which is the number one reason my kids want to come here. They also love the petting zoo and apple cider donuts. And the pig races are a must-see. Kids 2 and under are free. Oh, and don’t forget the free selfie booth to get the cute picture with Bengtson’s sign on it!

Keller’s Farmstand (2500 Johnson Rd Oswego, IL 60543; 630-219-8194)

I like coming here because their apple cider donuts are the best! I’ve tried the apple cider donuts at many places, but their fresh ones are ohhhhh so good! This place is a classic pumpkin patch: corn maze, a kid’s play area, a barn, and a hayride. I love coming here because this is what I expect the traditional pumpkin patch to be like. I say this place is great for kids of any age. If you like to go apple picking, this place also offers that!

*Pro Tip: In Dupage County, if you enroll your kids in a reading program at the local library, you usually get one free admission coupon. We get that every year. Abbey Farms (2855 Hart Rd, Aurora, IL 60502; 630-966-7775)

This place is a hidden gem that my family loves! You can find a good deal on Groupon; so make sure to look for that beforehand. My kids love the water pump duck races, megadrop slides, and zip lines. This place may be more geared toward younger kids, but anyone of any age can still have a good time! Their corn maze is the largest in Kane County. And don’t forget that they sell apple cider donuts too.
